Information Selling?

From what I have read on this board, if they don't find many people work then this company can't be making too much money from taking some of the workers' wages.

I filled out the most extensive paperwork in that office, and they have some very sensitive data on me and many others

My big concern is that their primary profits come from selling very sensitive data, not from finding people jobs.

I understand that part of a hiring process is disclosing personal information. What really troubles me is the paper you have to sign that allows them to release it to any potentially interested company. Who exactly qualifies as a potentially interested company.

As a resident of Florida where there is the highest identity theft rate in the states, I am starting to feel a bit ill. Let's just hope I am overly paranoid. I will be monitoring everything and starting to wonder about the prudence in honesty these days. Maybe such loss of privacy is the price of finding work these days.

That is my concern, they ask for SS#, DOB, Drivers license and a copy of these documents, then no employment what is the personal, information collected for?? I request find me work then ask for these documents, I am very, very concerned I'm not feeling good about all this personal ID Collection only to not hear from them or have a position lined up.

Normally, this is collected in orientation or once a job is offered. We have to keep our eyes open on this one, especially with identity theft so prevalent.

I have worked for express for quite awhile now.I have the best ladies in our office they treat me with respect & as friendly cheerful and positive as can be. Now i want to put this out there when you are hired they tell you that you can turn down any assignment but if you accept an assignment you must give it 2 full shifts before you quit that assignment. You are given a description of your job duties and rate of pay as well as expected duration of assignment all before you are asked if you might have an interest in this particular assignment . This company is the best temp service I have ever worked for. They have 0 interest in preventing anyone from receiving money earned.

That's fabulous that you are having such a great experience with your local Express franchise. I'm delighted for you.

Others, however, are not so fortunate. I'll tell you about my own Express experience. I told them what areas of a major city I could reasonably commute to. I stated any positions NOT in these areas, I could not consider, due to transportation/time constraints.

I communicated this verbally and I also included it on my application. Guess where I was offered work?! Yep, in areas that were outside my commute! Guess what I told?!

That if I did not take one of the assignments anyway, I would be blackballed. I declined and accepted a contract with another agency. Express contacted me (after the blackball threat) and asked me to walk out of this other agency's assignment and take theirs!! HOW PROFESSIONAL!

They weren't even offering as much money! I declined, of course!

Oh and when I was in the Express office doing the initial 1:1 interview, the recruiter's phone rang and she told the caller she "wasn't doing anything important" and proceeded to gab about personal stuff, like weekend plans, for the next half hour while I sat there in disbelief! I should have torn up my app and walked out, at that point.

Express Employment Professionals - Customer Care Review from Solana Beach, California

Not too sure about the one in Post Falls Idaho. Just met with them to try and find a better job. Turns out my current employer is one of their clients so I was told that , technically, I was creating a conflict of interest by being there and would have to give two weeks notice to my current employer before they could help me into another job . Since they cant guarantee that I would be hired, I would be putting myself at risk for being unemployed.

Corporate resale rep Bill Thomson is a clueless ***

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I responded to a business listing for a staffing business for sale. Sounded great as it was doing almost $1.8Mill in revenue and selling for $125K. So what is the catch? Well u have to fork over 8% to the corporate office leaving very little for the poor husband and wife team hustling all the businesses and staff recruits. No wonder noone wants to buy it.

So i asked Bill what is the advantage express pro has over other chains and local offices? And why does this couple want to sell after only 2 yrs running their office, and why did the other franchisee in the neighboring town want to see but couldnt, so ended up closing down??

I guess that was just too much for ol Bill?? He told me i was wasting his time and i should go with another staffing franchise, LOL

Bill, you are supposed to be a salesman, you cant even answer those obvious questions any prospect should be asking you? You are pathetic.

The Express in the city where I use to live closed down. I've never heard of a nationally known staffing service to go out of business.

The one in the next city over moved from their large, prime location spot to a tiny office tucked away off the beaten path. I can only conclude they too were having financial problems.

False Advertising

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

When I spoke to Kurshell, one of the employees at Express, she told they had several jobs for me so I made a appointment for an interview. My impression was not good.

Office was decorated somewhere between grandma's house & the circus. Not a very professional environment. Waited 15 minutes for Kurshell to get off her cell phone. When she finally decided to come over & introduce herself I was blown away at her unprofessional appearance.

She looked like an Emo Punk Rock girl with long hair on one side & a tight buzz on the other... piercings all over her. She asked me a whole two questions & told me all the jobs were filled already although, their sign outside advertising they had openings in my field. False advertising??

If you want to work then don't waste your time here. I also know some other people who also recently registered with this agency & told me they haven't had any job offers even though they were told otherwise like me. I registered with another agency & what a complete difference! Professional office, people & I was greeted right away & treated with respect.

They have already found work for me. My dream job really was at Spherion!!!

I never hear from them

I gave them a resume with all kinds of credentials on it 4 months ago to Express Employment Sarnia and I haven't heard a word from them since. Not one. Not a call. Not an e-mail. Nothing. As far as I know they threw my resume in the trash the minute I walked away. Somehow I managed to get job interviews all on my own and was hired full time this week. Odd how I could do that and so called employment professionals couldn't do squat for me in 4 months don't you think? I wouldn't recommend these people to anybody.

Express Employment Professionals - Receptionist Review from Cincinnati, Ohio

Had the receptionist perform the drug test and it was not sent to a lab for testing...the sample was not sealed and the receptionist said I had failed the drug test when I passed a drug test from a lab 2 weeks ago...probably tampered with my sample. This was in Norwood, Ohio

Wait. What?

The Express employee performed your drug test in their office? That is so weird. I have never heard of such a thing before. Why were you sent to LabCorp or somewhere similar, like everyone else who takes a drug test.

Does this staff member have some sort of special training that qualifies her to do drug testing? I would be livid, if I were you.

I was kicked out of the office in Parsippany, because I had my baby and my 10 year old with me. My baby did not even make a sound. The receptionist stated that I had to leave because they are a professional office and children are not allowed in the office. She told me to send my children to the car, really! Unattended and in a hot car! I went into the hall way to wait for my mother that was applying for a job, the rude receptionist told me to leave the building that children are not welcome in the building. Outside it was so hot, almost 100 degrees.Never in my life I have felt more discriminated. I told the receptionist I felt discriminated and she laughed at me and said is that so!

Why in the world

Would your mom take you and your 2 children with her to apply for a job? As a hiring manager for a fast food place I can tell you I personally would not want to hire a person who brought their kids and grandkids along ..certainly throws up red flags professionalism and dependability just to name 2. As for receptionist I seriously doubt she said "send those babies out to your car in this heat and leave them out there alone" I believe that's probably an misinterpretation.

Guest

Common sense says you don't tag along with another person when they are job hunting and you sure as heck don't bring children/babies with you!

Guest

Why would you have accompanied your mother to apply for a job? Your mom can kiss any employment opportunities with that office goodbye.

She has already proven she has a distinct lack of judgement and professionalism. There is no way Express could risk placing her and having you and your spawn tagging along as well. If she is stup*d enough to bring people with her to apply for a job, who knows how she would act in the workplace! The receptionist was correct in telling you to leave.

They are not running a daycare and it is not normal by any stretch of the imagination for someone to bring an entourage with them to apply for work.

There was no discrimination against you and I don't doubt the receptionist laughed because you are so pathetic, it's funny. Funny but definitely sad and pathetic.

Unprofessional staff

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
South Orange Blossom Trail location in Orlando is highly unprofessional. The clerical recruiter is the most unprofessional of them all. She speaks ill of those she hires to do jobs. She double dips every time she can, as in working for them and taking another job through them when she is not allowed to, and instead of giving advanced notice on work, she calls you at the last minute then tells you that YOU are FRUSTRATING HER, because you are busy and can't respond, but refuses to send you the potential work info and address before you decide to take the temp job. She is always saying something unprofessional or inappropriate, and has something to say about 90% of her employees. Not professional at all. If you don't like them, let them go, don't work with them. Simple as that. But you should never speak to another employee about them.
